TalkTommy is a free iPad App with pictures. Click a picture and you hear the sound it makes. That's it.
You can use the built in libraries and buy new libraries from the in-app store.
Use TalkTommy to create and edit your own libraries. Unlock the creator part within the app for € 3,99 to customize TalkTommy with your own pictures and sounds. (dutch introduction)
Using the Creator Part of the app (€ 3,99) makes it possible to create your own libraries. This way you can use it for many different purposes. It can be used as an interactive game for children, or for teaching young children the sound of different animals for example. For a non-verbal child the pictures might make it possible to communicate.
TalkTommy is made as a user-friendly tool for non-verbal children. Parents are able to buy the creator-part of the app to compose their own image-libraries using selfmade pictures and sounds. Just select any picture you have on your Ipad and record a sound within the app. This way parents are capable of shaping the app to the needs of their child. It also makes it possible to adapt different libraries to different levels of difficulty, to create a learning process or to help them with their speech handicap.
Elmer loves sounds, but his physical handicap makes it hard for him to choose between a large ammount of pictures. So his dad created a library with only four pictures: a guitar, drums, a violin and a sirene. Elmer mostly prefers the sirene.
Diaro's mother created a set of libraries: one for at home, one for on the move and one for in the grocery store. With the help of TalkTommy, Diaro is now able to indicate when he wants to go to bed, or when he's cold. Also he's now capable of participating in decisions when he goes shopping with his mother.
Though the app is meant for non-verbal children, we soon came to realize that TalkTommy could be used by any child. It can be used as a playful way of learning letters and numbers, and the creator part makes it possible to create libraries that suits the child's level of thinking.
'Where's the elephant?' is Jorgen's (3) favorite game. In mama's lap, TalkTommy is used as an interactive book with animal pictures.
Emiel is not yet able to write, he can count though. With the number-library he's able to learn in a playful way how the numbers look and how to pronounce them.
The intuitive interface of the TalkTommy creator makes it very easy to add pictures and to record a sound that matches the pictures. Use your own fantasy and creativity to shape the libraries to your satisfaction.
You can download the app - with two standard libraries - for free.
The creator part of the app gives you the ability to create and edit your own libraries, using your own pictures and sounds.
The creator part is available for only € 3,99 and can be bought from within the app.
